A graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop, where he was also a Teaching/Writing Fellow, he has received fellowships from the James A. Michener/Copernicus Society of America (in support of this novel) and the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Massachusetts. He is a former director of the Iowa Young Writers' Studio and, from 2001 to 2004, he was Writing Coordinator at the Fine Arts Work Center. Justin Tussing lives in Portland, Oregon. This is his first novel.
